The effects of children's perceptions of parental psychological control and children's basic psychological needs satisfaction on SNS addiction tendency

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of children's perceptions of parent psychological control and children's basic psychological needs satisfaction on SNS addiction tendency. For the study, 247 children ranging from 5rd to 6th grades, were recruited from four elementary schools. The results of this study: First, for boys and girls, there was a positive correlation between their perceptions of parental psychological control and their SNS addiction tendency. But only for girls, there was a negative correlation was found between their basic psychological needs satisfaction and their SNS addiction tendency. Second only mother's psychological control perceived by boys had a significant and positive effect on their SNS addiction tendency, while only relatedness, turned out to have a significant but negative influence on girs' SNS addiction tendency.
